Not your average journal
JBEE is a double-blind, peer-reviewed international journal focused on EDUCATION. We publish case studies, teaching articles, opinion pieces and forums along with education research. It is a teaching tool that offers innovative pedagogical strategies and curriculum design with a goal of impacting the way business ethics courses are taught.
As an education journal, JBEE does not appear on many lists used in the rank and tenure process. This is because the types of articles we publish cannot simply be measured via citation indices. The teaching materials are available to order for inspection and classroom use as individual articles (case studies/exercises/lecture articles) via the JBEE website, and global distribution channels such as the Case Centre and SAGE Business Cases. The metrics of article orders serves as a major component of the journal’s usage making its true impact not quantifiable by existing research metrics as used in current journal ranking lists.
High quality pedagogical inquiry is a necessity for all those involved in the business of learning and teaching, and this includes teaching-focussed and research-focussed staff, albeit to different degrees. The issue is how to build research-informed approaches into everyday practices that engage staff and students in the rigorous exploration of the situated nature of pedagogy and the role of individuals in this. Developing and supporting research-informed communities of practice is key to enhancing quality and ensuring efficiency using an evidence-based approach to enable a focus on what matters.
